Security Incident Map
– Ghana
Ghana remains to this day one of the West African countries least affected by terrorist instability, although it takes seriously the risk of the threat spreading from the Sahel. No major incident attributable to Sahelian armed groups has recently been recorded on its territory, but several weak signals, such as infiltration attempts, arrests of suspects, and suspicious movements in the Northern Region, have led the authorities to adopt a reinforced preventive posture. The Ghanaian government has therefore intensified its security engagement: increased surveillance in border areas, strengthened military and police capacities, investments in intelligence, and active cooperation within the Accra Initiative. Joint exercises and training have been conducted with international partners, notably to anticipate possible attacks from Burkina Faso, where the security situation continues to deteriorate. Despite the absence of direct attacks, authorities remain vigilant against risks of indoctrination, local radicalization, or the use of the territory as a logistical transit zone. Ghana currently appears as a relatively stable hub, but remains exposed to regional dynamics and to the evolving security situation in neighboring countries.
