During the night of December 26 to 27, 2022, Togolese soldiers routed armed individuals who were driving a herd of cattle while transhumance is prohibited.
DSF from Operation Hadin Kai neutralized 8 Boko Haram elements in Mafa
On December 26, 2022, in the Mafa area, Nigerian Army’s Operation Hadin Kai troops in collaboration with members of vigilante groups killed eight Boko Haram elements and captured one alive. Motorcycles and ammunition were seized.

On December 28, 2022, unidentified armed men attacked the police checkpoint on the Dori-Ouaga road, injuring two DSF and causing material damage.
A MINUSMA vehicle hit an IED between Timbuktu and Ber
On December 28, 2022, a MINUSMA vehicle struck a mine on the road between Timbuktu and Ber. The peacekeepers were fired upon and one was wounded. In Mali in 2022, 25 peacekeepers lost their lives.

A DSF vehicle reportedly exploded on an IED in Bourzanga, injuring 3 members of the DSF
On December 29, 2022, a Defense and Security Forces vehicle suffered a mine incident at the entrance to Bourzanga. Three FDS were injured and material damage was noted.
The IS claims responsibility for attempted assassination of Nigerian president in Okene
On December 29, 2022, the Islamic State carried out a car bombing in Okene targeting Muhammadu Buhari, the sitting Nigerian president. Three guards at the Emir of Okene’s palace were killed, but the president was not at the scene.

On December 30, 2022, according to several sources, many civilians of Fulani origin were killed by Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) Dozos. Official death toll: 28.
Armed men killed four people at the Bawa IDP site (Gao)
On December 30, 2022, armed men in a vehicle opened fire at an Internally Displaced people site in Bawa, Gao. At least four people were killed and several injured. The site housed displaced persons from Talataye in the Ansongo cercle.
