On 25 August 2022, elements of the ISGS ambushed a FAN convoy near the locality of Tillia. The human toll was one senior officer killed and several injured.

Terrorist attack on a Christian village near Chibok.

On 25 August 2022, elements affiliated with the Islamic State attacked a Christian village near the town of Chibok in the Borno region.

Terrorist attack on gendarmerie posts in Houndé.

During the night of 25 to 26 August 2022, two Burkinabe gendarmerie positions in Houndé were the target of attacks by a terrorist group. The town of Houndé, located on the RN01, is a strategic point because of the presence of one of the country’s largest mines.

Clash between JNIM and EIGS in Tingadode.

On 26 August 2022, an armed terrorist group affiliated to the JNIM attacked ISGS elements in Tingadode, near the town of Tidarmene. The human toll is unknown.

Terrorist attack on a logistical convoy near Nadiabonli.

On 26 August 2022, an armed terrorist group attacked a logistical convoy of the Boungou mine located 25km from the town of Nadiabonli. The human toll was seven killed and some injured.

Arrest of two terrorists following attacks on gendarmerie positions in Houndé.

On 26 August 2022, two individuals affiliated with an armed terrorist group were arrested following attacks on gendarmerie positions in Houndé. One of them suffered injuries from the exchange of fire.

Malian refugees in Mbera accuse Wagner's mercenaries of abuses.

On 26 August 2022, Malian refugees from the Mbera camp in Mauritania claimed to have been subjected to abuses by men from the private military company “WAGNER” currently present in Mali. Originally from Hombori, the refugees admitted that they had fled from the violence inflicted on them by the mercenaries.

Clashes between the ISGS and the MSA_D in Azilili.

On 26 August 2022, clashes took place between an armed terrorist group affiliated to the ISGS and elements of the MSA near the locality of Azilili, 130km northeast of Ménaka. The MSA claimed to have killed 5 terrorists and captured several others wounded in the fighting.

Terrorist attack on the locality of Kouka.

During the night of 26 to 27 August 2022, an armed terrorist group attacked and destroyed several buildings and infrastructures in the town of Kouka. The gendarmerie brigade, the central police station, the town hall, the prefecture and several businesses were set on fire and dynamited. No human casualties were reported.

Destruction of a mobile phone tower in Gounghin.

On 27 August 2022, unidentified armed individuals destroyed a mobile phone mast in the locality of Gounghin in the early morning. Part of the Kouritenga region was left without a mobile phone network.

Presence of unidentified gunmen in Solenzo.

On 27 August 2022, unidentified armed individuals were seen in front of the police station in the locality of Solenzo in the Banwa region. Witnesses claim to have heard a loud bang in the police station. The human toll remains unknown.
