Hostage taking in Koutiala.
On the night of Thursday, May 19, around 8:00 pm, unidentified armed men kidnapped Christian missionaries in Sincina, a rural commune located 10 km from Koutiala.
Two of the hostages were Italian nationals, one a woman and the other a man. The third hostage is a Togolese.

Niger builds drone base to strengthen border security
Niger plans to build a base of armed drones to strengthen its defense and security capabilities in the fight against terrorism and to closely monitor the security situation on its borders with Libya and Mali. Security sources told the local newspaper, Actu Niger, on Sunday that the drone base will be set up in the country’s central region, Tahoua. The sources said the project is part of the fight against terrorism by moving towards a strategy of rapid response and effective crisis management as the country received the first Turkish-made drones last week.
