On January 3, 2022, Islamic State terrorists in the Great Sahara attacked members of the National Guard who were escorting Tunisian workers 15 kilometers east of Sanam on the Bagaroua road. One vehicle was burned and three guards were injured. The Tunisian workers are safe.
